What exactly is a “Gut Check?” It sounds scary?

Gut Check is a common term used generally by those in the military, athletes or extreme sports. When someone says, “Time for a gut check, “it means get ready to find out what you are truly made of. It’s about finding that fire that burns in each of us. Gut Check isn’t scary it’s basically being the best that you can possibly be!

Are your workouts hard? Can anyone join?

We’ve been voted San Diego’s “Hardest Workout Class.” Is it hard? Yes! Can anyone do it? We do recommend a minimum fitness level. You need to do have the desire, heart and drive to take control of your current fitness level and you’ll be fine. Maybe a little sore but you’ll live.

What’s the deal with the Death Waiver?

The Death Waiver is there just in case. We’ve never had to use it but it’s better to be safe. Plus we like to shake you up a little before you join, just for fun.

What items will I need to bring the first day?

We ask that you bring the Client Info form, Death Waiver, 8-12 lb dumbbells (ladies), 15-20lb db’s (guys), a good pair of running shoes, water and a towel.

How do I get started?

All you have to do is show up at any class with the items listed above. It’s that easy. No hidden fees or contracts. We would appreciate an email beforehand just so we can look for you.

How much does it cost?

Gut Check is by far the best bargain around. We’ve kept it affordable to allow those that work for a living, like ourselves, the opportunity to join this incredible crew. We have 3 easy options; $20 drop-in fee, 5 sessions for $75 punch card or the most popular option, $100 Unlimited Monthly, you can attend ANY class during the month. If you attend 20 classes per month the Unlimited Monthly fee comes out to only $5.00/session!

How long is a session?

All our weekly classes last for an hour. Our Saturday classes are an hour and a half of non-stop fun!

What can I expect at each session?

Our classes that meet Monday – Thursday are on a rotation system like this; Mon. & Wed. are upper body/abs and Tues. & Thurs. are lower body/cardio/abs. Our locations that meet three times a week, i.e. Mon, Wed & Fri are total body workouts and will hit a little bit of everything. These workouts do work.

What type of people can I expect to meet?

You”ll meet like minded individuals just like yourself: People who seek accountability and motivation in a like-minded group, who want to do something fun but different… and who are ready for a challenge!

What is a typical day at boot camp like?

Forrest Gump said it best, “Gut Check is like a box of chocolates. Ya never know what you’re going get!” Ok, sounds dumb but it’s actually true. We are constantly changing up your workout to help you get the results you want and to keep it fun.

Will I be sore?

In one word: Yes. The first two to three weeks will be the toughest for your body to adjust to. However, once you acclimate to the program, you”ll feel sore less often. Though as you get into better shape we’ll continue to raise the bar. Soreness, not pain, becomes an old friend after awhile that lets you know you’re still alive.

Is this a walking group?

We are a running group and that won’t change but we do allow people to modify as much as possible so that they can participate…again it”s all about desire, heart and drive. We tell everyone that joins us, “Just do what you can do. It’s all about you and working as hard as you can.”

Do we still work out when it”s raining or snowing?

This is Boot Camp, NOT summer camp! Of course we work out regardless of the weather. Ask your instructor this question and enjoy your special burpee surprise!

Do you have a refund policy?

Yes, if you don’t like a class, you can try another. There is no monetary refund. This is non-negotiable.
