Whitney Sweat, MS, RD, CSSD
Sport and Performance Dietitian
Whitney Sweat joined the Gut Check team in August 2014. She also works for Naval Special Warfare in Coronado as a Performance Dietitian.
Previously, she worked at Purdue University as a Sports Dietitian in the Intercollegiate Athletics Department. She worked closely with 18 varsity sports and over 400 student-athletes. Whitney is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is a board certified Sports Dietitian.
She obtained her Master of Science degree in Nutrition with a minor in Exercise Science from Oregon State University. Originally from Boise, ID, Whitney received her Bachelor of Science degree in Food & Nutrition and completed her Dietetic Internship with the University of Idaho.
Through her work and education experience, Whitney has worked with a wide variety of athletes on multiple issues, including dietary changes to improve performance, competition day fueling strategies, hydration, post-injury nutrition, meal planning and preparation, and weight management.
In her spare time, Whitney enjoys running, hiking, cooking, traveling, and more recently, attending as many Gut Check classes as possible! She often serves as her own test subject in experimenting with different fueling strategies. As an avid runner, her five half-marathons and one duathlon (and still counting!) have been great opportunities to put her recommendations into practice. Always looking for something new, she has also recently taken up paddle boarding and is attempting to ride some California waves. Whitney is looking forward to working with the amazing attendees of Gut Check Fitness and getting after it herself through their multiple classes and events.
